The course will enable early years practitioners to consider how to support young children’s early writing.
Course objectives will enable practitioners to:
- have an understanding of the developmental stages of reading and writing in the early years
- support children in developing the skills they need to become capable, confident writers
- provide a stimulating, literate environment that reflects the interests and learning styles of all children
- use observation, assessment and planning to ensure the needs of all children are met
Length of course: 2.5 hours.
Target audience: Early years practitioners in schools, early years settings including childminders.
This course supports the learning and development areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (2017). Its focus for Ofsted inspection sits within the Leadership and Management, and teaching, learning and assessment judgment areas of the Common Inspection Framework (2015).
