The Hub is an annual event that brings together early years practitioners to hear about up-to-date news and information about all things early years. Our past speakers have included Shadow Childcare Minister Lucy Powell, Dr Rebecca Wagstaff, Deputy Director for the North West Public Health England plus our own trainers and consultants who bring news on current topical themes to the sector. There are great opportunities to network at the Hub and we always have a variety of exhibitors and suppliers on the night for those attending to take a look at, and or purchase from.
Our keynote speakers for this year’s Hub were Tracy Brabin MP, Shadow Minister for Early Years and Neil Leitch CEO, Pre-school Learning Alliance. Both Neil and Tracy spoke about the many challenges that face the sector currently and took questions from the floor on a variety of issues, from under funding (30 hours) to workforce concerns and shortfalls in Government support for early years.
Other themes and topics delivered by the Early Years Hub team included:
- Updates on policy
- Focus on safeguarding
- Getting ready for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- Updates from Ofsted
