This course will introduce and help early years practitioners to understand and follow the process of observing, assessing and planning for children’s learning.
Course objectives will enable practitioners to:
- understand the importance of quality observation as part of the assessment and planning requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- use observation skills and techniques to effectively assess children’s learning
- effectively support teaching and learning through observation
- use observation to support children and plan for their next steps in learning
The session will allow you to work with your setting’s data. Please bring a set of data, including any tracking information for the pre-school aged children in your setting
Length of course: 2.5 hours.
Target audience: All early years practitioners in schools, day care settings including childminders.
This course supports the Learning and development areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (2017). Its focus for Ofsted inspection sits within the Leadership and Management, and teaching, learning and assessment judgment areas of the Common Inspection Framework (2015).
